Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Exiled Mounty handles personal information across the website, The Exiled Mountie newsletter, digital products, the Exit Readiness Assessment, Watch Commander, emails, and support.
Effective and last updated: August 12, 2026.
Information We Collect
Depending on what you use, we may collect:
- Contact and communication information you submit through forms, email, newsletter signup, support requests, purchases, or product intake.
- Exit Readiness information, including your email address, twelve assessment answers and scores, destination interests, critical flags, result band, recommendations, and your separate choices about receiving a report copy or joining the newsletter.
- Newsletter subscription information, including email address, consent source and timestamp, subscription status, and unsubscribe status.
- Watch Commander intake information, such as citizenship or nationality, target country, applying-from location, pathway preferences, income, family, pension, investment, property, employment, and related planning details.
- Generated reports, private workspace status, country slots, attempt counts, report-generation events, support identifiers, and access information.
- Payment and order metadata from providers such as Stripe or Amazon, including payment status, amount, currency, checkout/session or order identifiers, product type, and customer email. We do not store full payment-card numbers.
- Technical information such as server logs, IP address, browser or device information, referral pages, error logs, security events, analytics events, and performance measurements.
How and Why We Use Information
We use information to provide a requested product or service, fulfil a purchase, act on consent, meet legal obligations, and pursue legitimate operational interests that do not override your rights. Uses include:
- Generating and displaying assessment results, reports, guides, private workspaces, and requested recommendations.
- Providing newsletters and recording or honouring subscription choices.
- Processing payments, confirming product access, replacing files, and handling refunds or disputes.
- Sending transactional emails such as requested report copies, private links, report-ready notices, receipts, support replies, and essential service messages.
- Improving content, product quality, source accuracy, security, reliability, accessibility, analytics, and error handling.
- Monitoring product limits and preventing abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, scraping, payment bypass, and security incidents.
Exit Readiness Assessment
Your email address and answers are used to generate and unlock the on-site report. We do not retain them merely because the report was displayed. Receiving an emailed copy and joining The Exiled Mountie newsletter are separate, optional choices that are unchecked by default.
If you request an emailed copy, a temporary delivery record is created. It is deleted immediately after successful delivery; a pending, interrupted, or failed delivery record containing the email address and delivery status may remain for up to 30 days for troubleshooting and then is automatically deleted. If you subscribe to the newsletter, the separate consent record described below remains, but the quiz answers and score are not attached to it.
Assessment progress is temporarily saved in your browser's session storage so you can move between questions. It is removed when the report is successfully displayed and normally disappears when the browser session ends. Anonymous aggregate events such as score band, destination interest, and product recommendation may be retained without an email address or IP address. Assessment information is not sold and is not used to subscribe you to marketing without separate consent.
The Exiled Mountie Newsletter
If you subscribe through Exiled Mounty, Substack, or another newsletter provider, the relevant provider may collect and process your email address and subscription information under its own policy. We record consent where needed and do not add assessment users, customers, or Watch Commander users to marketing broadcasts unless they separately opt in.
You may unsubscribe using the link in any marketing email or by contacting support. Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent essential transactional messages related to a purchase or requested service.
Watch Commander
Watch Commander may operate without user accounts. A private workspace link may function as your access key. Keep it private. Anyone with the link may be able to access the associated workspace, report history, remaining country slots, and remaining successful generations.
If transactional email is configured, private links, report notices, support replies, and access information may be sent to the email address used at checkout or provided for support.
Watch Commander reports are based on intake information you provide. Because this information may include financial, family, immigration, and planning details, do not submit information you are not comfortable using for report generation and support.
AI Processing
Watch Commander may send relevant intake details, questions, and instructions to OpenAI to generate or assist with a report. Do not submit unnecessary secrets, account credentials, medical records, identity-document images, or other highly sensitive information.
AI providers may process data on infrastructure outside your country. Their handling of information is also governed by their applicable business terms and privacy commitments. The Exit Readiness Assessment itself uses fixed scoring rules and does not use AI to calculate its results.
Service Providers and International Processing
We use providers for hosting, databases, analytics, AI processing, email delivery, newsletter operations, payments, marketplaces, logs, security, and support. These may include OpenAI, Substack, Stripe, Amazon, Postmark, self-hosted Umami analytics, and hosting or database providers.
Providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and may operate in Canada, the United States, Mexico, or other countries. As a result, information may be processed outside your country and may be subject to lawful access under local laws.
We do not sell or rent personal information.
Cookies and Analytics
Exiled Mounty does not use advertising cookies or retargeting pixels by default.
We may use privacy-friendly analytics, essential technical storage, server logs, and third-party tools needed for newsletter signup, payment, security, error logging, private workspace access, and service operation. See the Cookie Notice.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, subject to legal, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, and backup requirements. Our working retention targets are:
- Exit Readiness answers, score, and report: not retained after the on-site report is generated and displayed.
- Exit Readiness email delivery: deleted immediately after a successful send; pending, interrupted, or failed delivery records expire automatically after 30 days.
- Anonymous Exit Readiness events: may be retained for aggregate measurement because they contain no email address or IP address.
- Newsletter consent and suppression records: while subscribed and up to 3 years after unsubscribe or withdrawal, so we can honour and demonstrate the request.
- Orders, payment metadata, refunds, and tax or accounting records: generally up to 7 years.
- Watch Commander intake, workspaces, and generated reports: while access remains active and generally up to 24 months after the last material activity, unless a longer period is needed for a dispute, legal obligation, or customer-requested continuity.
- Support correspondence: generally up to 24 months after resolution.
- Operational, security, event, and error logs: ordinarily 90 to 180 days, unless an incident requires longer preservation.
- Analytics information: generally up to 24 months.
Backups may retain deleted information for a limited additional period until they rotate. We may anonymize or aggregate information so it no longer identifies an individual; anonymized information may be kept longer.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the service, including access controls, restricted credentials, encrypted connections, private storage, backups, and operational monitoring. No internet service is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keep private workspace and download links confidential and contact us if you believe one has been exposed.
Sharing With Professionals
If you request lawyer, consultant, field-contact, or service-provider options, we may provide general information or suggestions to you.
We should not send your private intake details, report summary, or file information to a lawyer, consultant, field contact, or other third party without your clear permission.
If you approve a handoff, we may share only the information reasonably needed for that request.
Your Choices and Requests
You may contact support@exiledmounty.com to ask about your information, request access or correction, withdraw marketing consent, object to or restrict certain processing where applicable, request deletion where legally and operationally possible, or get help recovering a private workspace link.
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. We may also retain limited records where required for payment, accounting, fraud prevention, suppression-list compliance, dispute handling, security, or law. If you are dissatisfied with our response, you may contact the privacy regulator that applies where you live.
Children
Paid services and personal-information forms are intended for adults. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13, and a person under the age of legal majority should use the site only with a parent or legal guardian. Contact us if you believe a child submitted personal information without appropriate permission.
Policy Changes
We may update this policy as services or legal requirements change. Material revisions will be identified by a new last-updated date on this page.
